Heron Leluje Wycinanki Giclee Print 8x10"
This is a high-quality giclee art print, 8”x10”, printed on acid-free, archival paper. The original piece was cut from a single piece of paper in the Polish folk tradition of "wycinanki." I am an artist of Polish descent living in South Louisiana. I am inspired by this beautiful state and interpret it through "wycinanki" (vee-chee-non-key), the Polish folk art of papercutting that I learned as a child. Birds are a common motif in wycinanki, and Louisiana is home to a wide variety of gorgeous birds. In the ample wetlands of South Louisiana you can often catch a glimpse of the marvelous herons, depicted in this piece. The motif style of the original cut is called a "leluje" (lily) which was popular in the Kurpie region of Poland.
