Here in SW Louisiana I like to sit out in the summer evenings and enjoy the fading sunset and the sounds of the season. First I hear the peeping of the kildeers, who dart around the yard. Then, a crescendo of cicadas, so loud my ears begin to ring. All at once, the tree frogs start their chorus, as lightning bugs appear among the pines. This is my homage in paper to those evening creatures. The black base is cut from one single piece of black paper, with the color layered on top. The design is all paper, cut with scissors in the Polish folk art tradition of wycinanki. This piece is one-of-a-kind, framed, and signed by the artist, Sam Wróbel.
